2/9 Sunday Morning Worship Service - Disciple Now

Feb 9, 2025    Jacob Mahaffey

In this message, Youth Director Jacob Mahaffey challenges us to examine our relationship with Christ through the lens of John 15:1-11, where Jesus declares, "I am the true vine." This sermon emphasizes that abiding in Christ is essential for spiritual growth, fruitfulness, and true joy. Abiding in Him starts with recognizing Him as our sole source of life, rejecting false teachings, and refusing to seek fulfillment in temporary things like success, status, or relationships.

Jacob highlights two types of branches: those that produce fruit and those that do not. The non-fruit-bearing branches, representing unbelievers, are ultimately cut off and separated from God, while the fruit-bearing branches—true believers—are pruned and refined to bring forth even more fruit. For believers, abiding in Christ means seeking Him in prayer, obeying His Word, and sharing His love with others. The sermon closes with a call for both believers and unbelievers to respond—either by deepening their commitment to Christ or by placing their faith in Him for the first time. True joy, fulfillment, and eternal life can only be found in abiding in Jesus.
