Verse Of The Week for February 2 - February 8
Verse Of The Week for February 2 - February 8
“And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.”
- 1 John 2:28
- 1 John 2:28
This scripture, penned by John, inspired by the Holy Spirit, tells us to abide in Him. The word “abide” in the original Greek means to continue, to remain.
The most important thing that will ever happen to an individual in this life is to be born again. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Once we are saved we become a new creature in Christ. We are different. We are not like the world. Our walk is different, our talk is different, the way we view people and things around us is different. We must abide, “continue, remain” in Him. It’s not that we are trying to “keep “ ourselves saved. Once we are saved we are eternally secure in His hand. We need to abide in Him. We do this as we pray, study His Word, and live it out daily in our lives. Jesus taught the disciples how important it is to abide in Him. In John 15 He told them that He is the vine and we are the branches. When we as the branches are abiding in the vine we will bring forth fruit. His desire is that we will bring forth fruit, more fruit, much fruit. The only way that becomes possible is when we that have been born again, remain, continue in Him. Study your Bible. Pray asking the Lord to help you to bring forth fruit. Allow the Lord to Bless you and use you for His Glory and Honor! Point precious souls to the “Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.”
