Verse of the week for March 31 - April 6

“He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come see the place the Lord lay.”
- Matthew 28:6

These words were spoken by one of the angels at Jesus’ tomb on the first Easter morning. These women had come to the tomb for the purpose of anointing the body of Jesus with sweet spices they had bought. The words of the angel became a turning point in their lives. They were asked to remember what the Lord had said. They remembered His words. (Luke 24) They then returned to share the glorious news. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest bombshell to drop on an unbelieving world. Religion and the religious leaders of that day thought they had done away with this “ blasphemer,” as they called Him. However they horribly wrong! His resurrection was proof positive that He was the Son of God. Even one of the rough, rugged, Roman soldiers that stood by the cross, declared, “Truly this man was the Son of God.”

The resurrection of Jesus Christ changed everything and brought about the assurance that everyone had the opportunity to be changed! The gospel message is the death, the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ! The Apostle Paul declared in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:  for it is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also unto the Greek.”

So you see the importance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is necessary for the salvation of man. Hear the gospel, believe the message of the gospel, trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation.
