Verse Of the Week for July 7 - July 17
Verse Of the Week for July 7 - July 17
“O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.”
- Isaiah 25:1
- Isaiah 25:1
We started looking at this verse last week and I felt that we needed to continue looking into the treasures that it contains. Last week we saw the personal, intimate relationship that we have with the Lord. When the psalmist proclaimed, “O Lord, thou art my God;…” This reminds us of Psalm 23:1. “The Lord is my shepherd…” We rest in satisfaction and confidence because of who He is and what we have through Him.
Now let’s look at the second part of this verse. “… I will exalt thee,…” In the Hebrew language the word for exalt means “to lift up, exalt.” The psalmist further declares, “I will praise thy name;…” Think about what we are seeing in this passage of scripture thus far. We have that personal relationship with the Lord. Declaring, O Lord, thou art my God! This all begins when we are born again, saved by His marvelous grace! That relationship grows stronger as we pray, study, and obey His Word. “I will exalt thee,…” speaks of lifting up the Lord. We lift Him up daily as we live our lives in submission to His will for our lives. We are told in the gospel of Matthew 5:16. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Our lives here on this earth, after we are saved, should exalt the Lord our God, for His Glory and honor and not ours! What a tremendous Blessing to know that our lives can be used to exalt the Lord that others may come to Him and Believe on Him! Dear Lord, help us daily to live in obedience to your Word and will for our lives. Help us through our everyday walk along with the Words that we speak, exalt you that others might be saved. Amen.
