Verse of the week for January 21 - January 27
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;”
- Phillipians 3:10
- Phillipians 3:10
Last week we started looking at this verse in Philippians chapter 3. Paul under inspiration of the Holy Spirit said that his desire was to “know him.” He knew him as his savior but his hearts desire was to have that daily, intimate, walk and relationship with Jesus. Now in this portion of this verse he states, “…and the power of his resurrection “ The greatest bombshell ever to explode in the face of an unbelieving world was the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. To the unbelievers, the mystery of all ages is the empty tomb of Jesus. If it were not for the resurrection we could never have been saved. Study 1 Corinthians 15. The entire chapter and see the importance of the bodily resurrection of Jesus
Christ. There is no saving faith-no salvation-apart from His resurrection.
In Romans 5:10 we read, “… Being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” that is, the believers ability to conquer sin daily and live a life that is pleasing unto Him, comes from the power within us. The power of His risen life! “Christ in you” is the power to overcome sin daily and live a life that is pleasing unto the Lord. Remember the words of Galatians 2:20. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Through the power of His resurrection you and I live also and through His resurrection power we can live a life that brings honor and glory unto him! Oh dear Lord, help us each and every day, live in such a manner that others can see you through us. Amen and Amen.
