Verse Of the Week for July 28 - August 3
“If my people ,which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and heal their land.”
- 2 Chronicles 7:14
- 2 Chronicles 7:14
This verse is key for experiencing a true Revival. There is so much that is wrong in the world, our nation, states, and communities. We need a Revival. Revival can take place in a single individual or it can take place in a large group of people. This verse tells us if we get serious about our relationship with the Lord, we can have revival. Notice the Lord says “if my people…” The Lord is talking about His people, those that have been born again! We(that are saved) must humble ourselves before the Lord. We are sinners saved by the grace of God. The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and He will lift us up! To be humble is to be totally honest about ourselves and about the Holiness of Almighty God. To be totally surrendered into the hands of the Lord.
Then He says to pray. Prayer is the earnest, sincere, desire of the heart. We can humble ourselves and pray then He says to seek His face. To seek the Lords face is to seek His favor, His will, His guidance. He then says to turn from our wicked ways. This is talking about repentance. Repentance is turning from and turning to. It’s an about face. We all certainly need to repent daily. He then tells us that then He will hear from heaven and forgive our sins and heal our land! I am so thankful for 1 John 1:9. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” To know that we can come to Him and confess our sin He will forgive us and cleanse us. He wipes the slate clean. You see believers are justified. To be justified is to be just as if we had never sinned. He then says that He will heal our land. Dear Lord help us (as believers) in our nation, communities, and as individuals to humble ourselves before you and pray. We truly want to seek your face and turn from our wicked ways. We pray that you would forgive us of our sin and heal this land of ours. We thank you and love you. Amen!
