Verse of the week for February 18 - February 24
“For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
- John 3:17
- John 3:17
As we continue looking at the conversation that Jesus had with Nicodemas, let’s consider verse 17. This verse gives us the reason that God sent His Son into the World. God loves each of us. He displayed His love for us through the sacrifice of His Son on the cross of Calvary! Romans 5:8 explains, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” We have “all sinned and come short of the glory of God.” So that leaves none of us out. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him…” The “whosoever” in this verse means salvation is available to everyone, and excludes no one. God sent his Son Jesus, into the world not to condemn the world. (Without Christ we are already condemned) He came that the world (the whosoever) could, if they believe upon him might be saved! Gods plan of salvation is available to everyone. The death of Jesus Christ was sufficient for everyone that would ever be born into this world to be saved. That’s why God sent him into this world. You see 2 Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to upward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” What a Blessing that we that are saved, have the message of the Gospel to share with those who have not yet been saved! Go tell the Good News to everyone you meet!
Have a blessed week!
