Verse of the week for February 4 - February 10
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
- John 3:3
- John 3:3
This verse is the beginning of a conversation that Jesus had with a man named Nicodemas, a Pharisee, a master in Israel. Nicodemas came to Jesus by night. He tells Jesus, “… we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.” Nicodemas, along with other Pharisees, recognized that there was truly something different about this man called Jesus. The miracles that He performed spoke volumes that he was no ordinary man. This Jesus was God in flesh (John 1:1-5,14) The conversation that was taking place with Nicodemas was about the most important event that will ever happen in an individual’s life! The New Birth, being Born Again!
Jesus said, “Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Later on in verse 7 Jesus would say, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” Jesus was telling Nicodemas that it was imperative for an individual to be Born Again! Ye must! We can go through this life and accomplish many things that many people may admire, but if we leave this world unprepared to meet God, what have we accomplished? You that read this post, regardless of who you are, what age you may be, whatever you may have achieved in life. The most important question that I will ask you is, have you been born again, saved by God’s grace? It all comes down to this, Romans 3:23 says that we, “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, (eternal death, separation from God, eternity in Hell, then the Lake of Fire)but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Aren’t those verses great to hear? God loves us in spite of ourselves. It doesn’t matter what we have done in the past. What does matter is whether or not we have been Born Again. Right now if you have come to the realization that you are a sinner. And that there is nothing that you can do in yourself to change that. But that God loves you, in fact he loves you so much that he gave His only Son, Jesus, to pay the wages, price, for your sin. Will you right now accept God’s gift to you by faith, trusting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. Call upon Him. Romans 10:13 says, “Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If the Lord saved you today respond by telling somebody and if you are already saved bow your head and thank God for His love and for His Son, Jesus! May the Lord bless each of you that read this message!
