Verse Of the Week for September 1 - September 7

“O taste and see that the Lord is good:…”

- Psalms 34:8

This verse is an invitation. It is an invitation for an individual to come and “taste” the goodness of God. We, as believers, know the experience and Blessings of being saved. However it is difficult at times to express the experience of knowing the Lord. It’s like trying to explain how good something is that you have eaten. Maybe a piece of fruit, a desert, or a special dish. You taste it and have tasted it and you just can’t explain how good it is. So you invite someone to taste it! Taste it for yourselves. The Psalmist in this verse (under inspiration of the Holy Spirit) says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” All through the Bible the Lord is inviting man to come to Him. Come to Him in faith. Just taste and see, experience for yourself, the goodness of God. Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” You may  be standing on the sidelines watching and wondering what salvation is all about. Let me encourage you to come to Jesus today, by faith, trusting in all that He has done for you, and experience for yourself the goodness of God.  Our dear heavenly Father, we ask you today, for those that are reading this verse, to open their hearts and lives to your goodness. We thank you for Jesus and the fact that He died for our sin on the Cross of Calvary. You invite us to come to you by faith. You ask us to come. You invite us to come, “… taste and see that the Lord is good:…” May those that have trusted you find themselves in the house of God this week learning more about your goodness! Amen.
