Verse of the week for March 17 - March 23
“…even as-the Son of man-came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
- Matthew 20:28
- Matthew 20:28
What a verse. Jesus did many things as He walked upon this earth. From the teaching that He did with great authority, to the many miracles that he performed with such great power, to the compassion He had for everyone. But His purpose and focus was a place called Calvary. There was a price for sin that must be paid. Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages is sin is death…” The payment for sin is death. We can go all the way back to Genesis chapter 3 when the fall of man took place. Adam and Eve disobeyed God. As a result of their sin the entire human race was polluted. Man’s soul was lost, condemned and separated from God. In Genesis 3:15 God promises one that would bruise (crush) satans head. The seed of Woman, none other than Gods Son, Jesus Christ! Also in Genesis 3 Adam and Eve had sewed fig leaves together to cover their nakedness. But God made them coats of skin. An innocent animal died whose blood was shed to cover their nakedness. A foreshadow of the perfect sacrifice that God himself would provide as the payment for sin. Romans 6:23 starts with, “For the wages of sin is death…” but the remainder of the verse emphatically states, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” You see Jesus came not to be ministered to, but to minister, to give His life a ransom for many. He payed the price for OUR sin. He paid the ransom price in full. The gift of God is eternal life through the finished work of Jesus Christ. A gift is not ours until we receive it. If you are reading this and are not saved and God is speaking to your heart right now. Just by faith trust in what Jesus has already done for you and call upon Him asking Him to save you. If the Lord has saved you please contact us and let us know and tell someone else. If you are saved share this with someone that’s not saved. God Bless each of you.
