Verse Of the Week for May 5 - May 11

“And when He saw their faith…”
This is some amazing scripture. These words are part of an event in which the healing of a palsied man takes place. This miracle is recorded in three of the gospels. In Matthew 9:1-8, Mark 2:1-12, and here in Luke 5:17-26. Read each of these accounts. Marks gospel tells us that this palsied man (paralyzed man) was borne of four. Four men were carrying this man on his bed. There were so many that had gathered in the house to hear Jesus teach and preach that they couldn’t get the man inside. They believed that if they could just get him to Jesus that Jesus would heal him. So the determination of these men really came forth in what happened next. They climbed up onto the roof and opened up a hole in it and let their palsied friend down in front of Jesus. Can you just imagine the reaction of the crowd? Some may have asked, “what’s happening, what’s going on?” “What do these men think they are doing?” They knew exactly what they were doing! Luke 5:20 says, “When He saw their faith,” When Jesus saw the man and looked up and saw the men, He saw the faith of all five men. The one on the bed and the five on the roof. This man wanted to get to Jesus but needed some help. Think about our own situation. None of us were able just to come to Christ alone. There was someone who helped us. It may have been a friend, a family member, a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, a pastor, a parent, an individual giving out a gospel tract. Someone influenced us in some way in coming to Christ. They just knew if they could get us to Jesus, through His word, that He would take care of what needed to be done. Faith. Faith is a tremendous thing. Believe beyond a shadow of a doubt. Faith. “When He saw their faith,”  <block type=5020202020Recent
