Verse of the week for February 11 - February 17

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
- John 3:16
This verse is a continuation of the conversation that Jesus was having with Nicodemas. This man was a religious man. Yet he was a lost man. The most important event that can ever happen in an individual’s life is to be “born again; saved” by Gods amazing grace. We covered in last week’s verses that Jesus said that a person had to be born again in order to see the kingdom of God. There is only one way to get to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ! Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  He (Jesus) is the only way to heaven. It’s through Him and His finished work that allows us to become the children of God when we receive Him by faith.  “God so loved the world…” Salvation is Gods plan that allows sinful man to have a relationship with Holy God. We may at times feel that no one cares about us or that no one loves us, but know this, God loves you. God loved the world so much that, “…He gave His only begotten Son…”. The greatest gift that ever has or ever will be given is Jesus Christ! God gave His Son, His only Son. He gave Him to die for our sin. He became our substitute, He took our place, and gave His life, that we might be saved. You see salvation is,”…whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” You see it happens this way, We hear the word of God and realize that we are a sinner. We also realize that God loves us even though we are a sinner. We learn this by hearing the word of God. God gave His Son to die for ours sins on the cross of Calvary. But Jesus didn’t remain dead, the third day he arose again. Then God, in the person of the Holy Spirit draws us to Christ. We, by faith call upon and receive Him as our savior. Jesus said in John 10:28, “And I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” If you are reading these words right now and the Lord is dealing with you heart, right now bow your head and call upon Him believing in Him with all your heart. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” May the Lord Bless each of you. Share this with your friends.
