Verse Of The Week for April 6 - April 12

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

- John 15:13
As we read this verse from the 15th chapter of the Gospel of John, it really puts things in perspective. All through the Word of God there is a message concerning Gods love toward us. God always has loved us. Even before the world was created, God loved us. He demonstrated His love for us in that, “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) In our verse this week we are reminded that there is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends. Jesus Christ did exactly that for each and every one of us. In John 10:17-18, Jesus said, “ Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” Jesus himself laid down His life for the sin of the entire world! There is no greater love than this. As we approach Easter, the day that we as believers celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, let’s remember the price that He paid in order for us to be redeemed! He freely and deliberately laid down His life for His friends, you and I. What love He has for us! God Bless each of you.

Dear Lord thank you for loving us even when we were unlovely. While we were sinners you died for us. We thank you, praise you, and worship you, for you alone are worthy of all the praise, honor, and glory! Bless your Holy Name! Amen.
