Verse Of the Week for June 16 - June 22
“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest.”
- John 4:35
- John 4:35
Opportunity after opportunity just stands before us. Many times we just don’t see them. We are living in a fast paced world. It seems that we can just blink and another week, month, or year has passed. We (that are saved) have a tremendous opportunity right before our eyes if we will just look.
Jesus had just had a conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. He had talked with her about “living water” that would be in her a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman knew that the Messiah was coming, and Jesus revealed unto her that He was the Messiah (Read all of John 4.) The woman would leave her water pot and go into the city and said unto the men, “Come see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” The disciples were concerned about Jesus needing to eat. He told them, “I have meat to eat that ye know not of.” They began questioning if anyone had brought Him food. Jesus would tell them that His meat was to do the will of Him that sent me. Jesus would then tell them to not to say, “There are yet four months then cometh the harvest,” in other words, don’t say that later on there is going to be a time for harvest. We may think that when Revival week comes, VBS week comes, D-NOW weekend comes, mission trip week comes, etc. is the time. Jesus says, “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest.” The opportunity is now, the opportunity is right before us, if we will only look and see as Jesus saw! Jesus saw lost souls. Jesus wanted the Fathers Will to be done. We should and must want the same thing. My prayer is that we that are saved would see the opportunity now to point precious souls to Jesus Christ. We live right now, today, in the best day ever to lead souls to Jesus! 2 Corinthians 6:2 (in part) reads, …”now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation.” The time is now, today, the fields are white unto harvest. Just lift up your eyes and look on the fields. No one can reach the people around you like you can! Oh dear Lord help us to see the fields that you have placed us in. Help us to see individuals that need you as their Lord and Savior. Help us to point these precious souls to you. Help us to do it now, today while there is time. Amen!
