Verse Of The Week for December 22 - December 28
Verse Of The Week for December 22 - December 28
“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
We, this past week have been celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. How wonderful to reflect upon the reason for His coming into this world. In Romans 6:23 it tells us that, “The wages of sin is death,…” As a result of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden we all became sinners. There was absolutely nothing that you and I could do to change that. God already had a plan in place. He already knew what man would do, so He already had a substitute for us. The substitute that the Heavenly Father had for us was none other than His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ! You see Romans 6:23 mentioned earlier has a last part of the verse. Read this verse in its entirety. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The last part of that verse is what makes the difference. In Christ, through faith in Christ you and I that trust Him have eternal life! He that knew no sin. He never sinned. He, Jesus was the perfect offering, the perfect substitute, the perfect spotless Lamb of God! He offered Himself, gave Himself, to pay our sin debt. A debt we could not pay, but He did, and through Him, in Him we are made righteous before God. We that are saved are justified before God. Not by our righteousness but in and through His (Jesus'), righteousness! He became our sin offering that we might become righteous before God. O praise and Bless His Name!
